Long overdue post about Pondy with the Infernal Knights

The date was 25th September, 2011 and this was going to be the maiden voyage of the Infernal Knights (oh yeah, that is the name of the biking enthusiasts from Infosys, MCity). We were to start pretty early in the day at 5:30 and we did,  Nachi, Dinesh from Chengalpet and Kishore from MCity came along from their places, joined up with Dhileep on the way at Medavakkam, then Goutham and Naveen joined in at Sholinganalur junction. We set the ground rules for the ride and headed on towards ECR and it was super cool.

Our first pit-stop was at Kovalam Beach along the ECR where we walked towards the rising sun and set our eyes on the horizon while in the mind wishing for many more trips in the future even-though this one had just begun.

Our next pit-stop was at this sandy tree farm sort of place where we managed to get our bikes on without dropping them down even-though it was quite a swerve riding on there. Had a photoshoot of sorts for a while there.

After all this photo-shoot we were hungry since we were yet to have our breakfast, we stopped at A2B near Mahabalipuram for our breakfast, oh and yeah before we reached there we had two Porsche Cayenne and a Lamborghini Gallardo whiz past us. Had our stomach's fill of a breakfast. Meanwhile a slightly older group of biker gentlemen walked in and we were trying to guess which bike they had rolled in on. We were pretty conservative with our guesses but as it turns out they had brought in the big guns: a Harley, 3 Kawasakis, a Honda, a Suzuki. All the guys were going ooooooh and aaaaaaah over the big boys, a few of them had their pictures taken on the bikes.

And then we moved on, the next place we stopped at was Alamparai our original Destination. We roamed around the fort a little bit played around a bit, took a lot of photos.

It was just about 11:00 when we were all done at Alamparai and we thought Pondy is just another 36 odd kms away so lets do that as well, we can even have our lunch there, so drove down to Pondy, relaxed did our stuff, some more photos and then we were on our way back home to rest and be back to the corporate world the next day.

TN19 D9357 @ Yelagiri

I had set the alarm on my cellphone for a 5 'o clock start, but the Saturday special sleep ignored the alarm till about 7. After getting up the first thing I did was to go up to my babe and apologize for having kept her waiting, but she didn't mind since I also gave her a treat in terms of a cleanup and her new saddle bags. And then i excused myself from her to get freshened up myself.

Trinity looking out to the open road
We were ready by around 8 and we hit the road, we stopped after about 20 odd kms for a photo-shoot. She was excited to see the open roads and so was I.

So majestic, ain't she??!!
We got a few clicks and we were ready to move on and put some miles behind us.
She has taken me under her wing..............

It was an awesome ride all along, the roads were not that crowded and everyone was letting us be by our self, the traffic moved along at its own pace all around us and we moved on soaking in the excitement and basking in the glory of the turning heads. The thump of a bullet is sweet music to the ear, be it a rhythmically challenged or a music-lover.
Destination: Yelagiri

The destination was a beauty too, it was fun just to forget everything and loiter around in an unknown town. Not too many pics taken in the town since we did not feel like doing anything except just look around, the beauty and the simplicity of the place is still there even-though there is a plethora of hotel/lodge/guesthouse/resort and what not.

She was so smooth all along!!!
It was a nice road even the gradient was smooth along the hill, the 14 hair pin bends along the way were nicely done and Trinity and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves going up and coming down that beautiful hill.

View along the hairpins
The view at each of the hairpin cannot really be called scary but was breath-taking because of the beauty that it had.

It was sunny but still cold and the place is a must visit for a good break from the daily hum-drum of life. It was fun just to loiter around and then lie around at such a beautiful place.
We played "Hide-n-Seek" with the sun

The view all around was B E A Utiful

Shez taking her well deserved break....

So was I................
Hope you had a little fun reading about it, I know I am long way away from becoming a travelogue writer. but hope you liked the start.

Going out with a bunch of biking enthusiasts from office tomorrow to a place called Alamparai/Alambara fort and backwaters somewhere between Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry nestled along the ECR. Will post regarding that trip tomorrow.

Till then, Ciao.

Let me phoenix this little blog of mine

Hi All,

It has been a long time since I actually used my blogger id to post something. Want to hone my language skills and provide a platform for people who are finding it difficult to live their lives without much of an air of excitement of having done something each passing day.

I am trying to resuscitate this old blog of mine to provide a fun travelogue of me with my babe Trinity, now wait before you start thinking "oh seems like the Matrix chick is making a splash here" Trinity is the name of my babe/sweetheart/darling bike, she is a RE TBTS 350 (for the people who did not get that, it is: Royal Enfield ThunderBird TwinSpark 350CC). I got this baby on the 8th of August, 2011 after a mere 4 months and 10 days wait (and I say mere here because I was told that I would have to wait atleast 8 if not 10 months to get delivery of my sweetheart).

You must be wondering August 8th to now, already a month and a half has passed since I got her and why I decided to start this blogging business this late in the day. There is a reason to it, actually quite a few and I will tell you about a few of them: getting her registered turned out to be quite a problem, the showroom I bought it from did not have a working relation with the RTO that is supposed to handle my area's registrations, they made me run around quite a bit before they could register my sweetheart and then some more time to let me know the registration number, but hey at-least I managed to get a registration number (I say number because I was still to get my RC Book) before my first service which happened after a smooth 800 kms (on 10th September) were clocked on her shiny little odometer.

Still leaves me with half a month to account for right and that was how long I had to wait for the RTO to give me the RC Book and it was no book, just a paper which I believe it would have taken them a few minutes to prepare, but its all fair I finally have all the things i need for starting on a recorded voyage of me and my darling Trinity. Her odometer reads around 1250 kms now, and I am gonna start the romance with a trip to Yelagiri that is a lesser traveled tourist spot between Bangalore and Chennai, I shall post regarding the experience/thrills/excitement of the ride when I am back from the maiden voyage.

Till then, Sayonara!!!
